Legendary Writer Kim Eun-hee Dedicates Herself to Signal Season 2

Renowned writer Kim Eun-hee is fully committed to the production of Season 2 of Signal (시그널). During an appearance on MBC's Questions from the Heart (손석희의 질문들) on April 1, alongside fellow writer Kim Eun-sook, she discussed the challenges of bringing the sequel to life. "It took nine years from the original Signal to get to Season 2. It's not just about me writing the script; there are complex processes involving the actors' schedules and more. I'm currently preparing the second Signal," she revealed.
Kim Eun-hee further explained, "My original goal was to finish the script before appearing on Questions from the Heart. I tend to write the latter parts of the script while revising the earlier sections. I'm currently working on episodes 7 and 8, and all three main characters will return. Another key element of Signal will be the walkie-talkie."
The original Signal, which aired in 2016, captivated audiences with its gripping narrative about detectives from the present and past who connect through a desperate radio call to solve cold cases. The series masterfully combined time travel and mystery genres, achieving a phenomenal level of popularity.
Kim Eun-sook, a close friend of Kim Eun-hee, expressed her anticipation for the next season, jokingly suggesting, "If you ended Signal like that, shouldn't you be writing the next one?" She even offered to assist as a co-writer if Kim Eun-hee struggled with the romance elements, praising her talent by saying, "Watching the plastic bag scene in Signal made me think, 'Kim Eun-hee is a genius!'"
In response, Kim Eun-hee assured fans that she is diligently working on the script, hinting at a potential release in 2026.
The two writers first met in July 2011 at the SBS 2011 Half-Year Drama Awards, where they each won accolades for their respective works, Secret Garden (시크릿가든) and Sign (싸인). They have maintained a strong bond ever since, contributing significantly to the advancement of Korean drama.
