Kim Sang-hyuk Reveals Heartbreaking 2.3 Billion Won Fraud Case Involving His Family

Former Click-B (클릭비) member Kim Sang-hyuk opened up about a devastating fraud case that affected his family, amounting to 2.3 billion won. In an episode of KBS2's 'Salim Namja 2' (살림하는 남자들2) aired on April 5, Kim shared his current life running a restaurant and living with his mother. He reflected on the aftermath of a drunk driving incident in 2005, stating, "I didn't intentionally avoid broadcasting, but I still feel the public's resentment due to my past mistakes." He mentioned that he received offers to appear on variety shows, but was told by a senior network official that he was not suitable for them.

Kim expressed the emotional toll of his long absence from the public eye, saying, "I felt like I would face serious consequences just for stepping outside. After receiving so much love, it was overwhelming to feel the opposite reaction."

During the interview, he recounted how his mother was deceived by a man she was dating, who took out loans in both their names to build a motel. Although he received funds from a construction company, the building was never constructed. For two years, his mother kept silent about the situation. Kim revealed, "We were paying 10 million won in interest every month until one day, I found my mother crying in her room. That’s when I learned the truth." He noted that they lost approximately 23 billion won, with each apartment valued at around 10 billion won. Currently, they live together in a modest 15-pyeong apartment.

His mother commented on their new living situation, saying, "Moving from a large house to a smaller one has made the decor mismatched, but we don’t have the money to recover from this fraud."

Kim Sang-hyuk debuted with Click-B in 1999 and gained significant popularity. However, he faced controversy in 2005 when he claimed, "I drank, but I didn’t drive" following his drunk driving incident.
