Kim Min-ho Shares Excitement for '신병3' Premiere
On April 7, the production conference for the original Genie TV drama '신병3' (Shinbyung 3), written by Yoon Gi-young and Kang Go-eun, and directed by Min Jin-ki and Jo Je-wook, took place at The Saint in Guro, Seoul.
'신병' (Shinbyung), which originated from a mega-hit animation, is a hyper-realistic military comedy that follows the story of a 'gold spoon' recruit entering a unit filled with various characters, from the good to the bad and the bizarre. The series has garnered immense popularity across all demographics due to its unique characters, the actors' powerful performances, and a blend of humor with relatable reality.
Returning with high expectations, '신병3' introduces unpredictable new recruits and the return of an unprecedented villain, raising the stakes for the Mythical Unit. The character Park Min-seok, played by Kim Min-ho, faces increasingly challenging military life as he approaches his promotion to Corporal. Director Min Jin-ki, known for breaking the boundaries between drama and variety with his 'military content' genre, collaborates with comedy master Yoon Gi-young to excite drama fans even more.
Kim Min-ho reprises his role as Park Min-seok, a 'gold spoon' recruit, who now faces competition from a 'national spoon' recruit, Jeon Guk-min, and is reminded of his own struggles by the new recruit Moon Bit-na.
Reflecting on his journey, Kim Min-ho expressed, "In Season 1, I felt the pressure of being the lead. It was my first time, and given the original's popularity, I approached it with a competitive spirit. I’m grateful for the love it received, which eased my burden as I leaned on my fellow actors. We all share the mindset that we are leads, allowing us to work together without pressure or greed. As we moved into Seasons 2 and 3, my biggest concern was how much older I look compared to Season 1. I try to manage my appearance, but the director treats us to drinks, which speeds up the aging process. So, I rely heavily on the makeup team. Park Min-seok is now supposed to be 21, so I’m trying to portray him with a youthful energy, almost like an elementary school student."
The original Genie TV drama '신병3' premieres on April 7 at 10 PM on ENA, with exclusive free VOD releases on KT Genie TV immediately after the broadcast every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM. It will also be available on the OTT platform Tving.
