Conservative Groups Accept Constitutional Court's Ruling on Yoon Suk-yeol's Impeachment

On April 4, the Constitutional Court unanimously upheld the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. In response, conservative organizations that had been holding anti-impeachment rallies announced their acceptance of the ruling and canceled their planned demonstrations.
Led by Pastor Son Hyun-bo of Busan's World Church, the evangelical group 'Save Korea,' which organized large-scale anti-impeachment protests in Seoul's Yeouido and across the nation, issued a statement immediately following the court's decision, saying, "As a member of South Korea, we accept the Constitutional Court's ruling today." They emphasized that "violence must not occur under any circumstances."
Jeon Han-gil, a history lecturer and co-leader of the anti-impeachment rallies, also expressed his acceptance of the court's decision during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel, stating, "This is what we pursue in terms of liberal democracy and the rule of law." He added, "Today's defeat is just a defeat for today. We can win in the early presidential election." Jeon expressed his willingness to support any unified candidate from the conservative side against Lee Jae-myung.
Save Korea subsequently canceled their planned rally in Yeouido, which was expected to draw 20,000 participants on April 5. A representative from the organization stated, "We have decided to cancel the rally on the 5th. Although our political slogans may differ, we must unite as a nation to create a better South Korea ahead of the presidential election in two months."
The National Defense Attorney Group, led by attorney Seok Dong-hyun, also canceled their scheduled anti-impeachment rally. Attorney Bae Ui-cheol from the group announced, "The rally in front of the Yongsan Presidential Office today has been canceled. In my heart, President Yoon Suk-yeol has returned today. I will not be discouraged by today's ruling and will continue the fight for a second founding of the nation alongside the people."
However, the Korea Restoration National Movement (대국본), led by Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon, and the Liberty Unification Party announced they would proceed with their planned rally in Gwanghwamun, expecting around 200,000 attendees. The group released a statement on April 4, expressing their disappointment with the court's decision, which they deemed difficult for the public to accept, and claimed it was an unjust ruling influenced by political pressure and biased media.
