Yoo Hae-jin Shares Filming Anecdote with Ryu Kyung-soo for 'Yadang'

On April 7, a press screening and media conference for the film 'Yadang' (directed by Hwang Byeong-kuk) took place at Megabox COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. The event featured director Hwang Byeong-kuk along with cast members Kang Ha-neul, Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-joon, Ryu Kyung-soo, and Chae Won-bin.

'Yadang' is a crime action film that revolves around a broker who orchestrates the drug trade in South Korea, a prosecutor aiming for higher status, and a detective dedicated to eradicating drug crimes, each with their own distinct objectives.

In the film, Ryu Kyung-soo portrays Jo Hoon, an untouchable character who shows blatant disrespect even towards the prosecutor played by Yoo Hae-jin. Ryu humorously revealed that his experience from filming 'Hostage' helped him in portraying such a character, stating, "I kidnapped Hwang Jung-min during 'Hostage.' That experience was very helpful."

He further expressed admiration for Yoo Hae-jin, saying, "He doesn’t really see me as a junior. He respects me as a colleague, allowing me to have fun while acting. I was surprised during a take when something unexpected came out of me, and he reacted flexibly to it. It reminded me of the importance of being adaptable."

When asked if he ever felt annoyed while filming, Yoo Hae-jin candidly replied, "There were moments when I thought, 'Can’t you just stay still? Is that so hard?' During the first shoot, I had the urge to smack him on the back of the head because he was being so infuriating. The situation was just that ridiculous."

The film 'Yadang' is set to hit theaters on April 16.
