Tragic Death in SBS Drama 'Treasure Island' as Heo Il-do Sacrifices Himself

In the latest episode of SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Treasure Island' (보물섬), Heo Il-do (이해영) meets a tragic end while trying to sever ties with Yeom Jang-seon (허준호) to protect his son, Seo Dong-joo (박형식). During a tense confrontation, Heo Il-do questions Yeom about when he discovered that Seo Dong-joo was his son, to which Yeom continues to lie. Heo Il-do accuses Yeom of deriving pleasure from manipulating his father into committing heinous acts against his own son.
Yeom, reflecting on his past, expresses disdain for Heo Il-do's rise from humble beginnings to the president of Daesan Group, lamenting the pain of having to kill his own son. He describes himself as a ruthless individual who kills for the sake of ambition, dismissing Heo Il-do's emotional turmoil as pathetic. In response, Heo Il-do declares his intention to rid his life of the 'devil' Yeom Jang-seon, asserting that he will ally with his capable son, Seo Dong-joo, to build Daesan together, despite knowing the dangers they face.
Meanwhile, Cha Deok-hee (김정난) learns of the father-son relationship between Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do and vows to oust Heo from Daesan, deeming him unfit as a father. In a dramatic turn of events, Yeom approaches Cha Gang-cheon (우현) to manipulate the situation further, leading to an ambush where Heo Il-do sacrifices himself to save Seo Dong-joo from an attack. This heart-wrenching moment marks a pivotal point in the series, showcasing the lengths a father will go to protect his child.
