Sung Si-kyung Pauses His Beloved Concert Series 'Chukga' After 14 Years

Singer Sung Si-kyung has announced a break from his popular concert series 'Chukga' (축가), which he started in 2012. On April 6, he shared on his social media that after 14 years, he feels the need to take a year off. He expressed that taking a break from a concert that has always brought him immense joy requires significant courage. Sung noted that last year was filled with performances, and he suddenly felt the need for a time to recharge.

Despite this break, he clarified that he won't be completely inactive. He plans to use this time wisely to reflect on himself, tackle challenges he hasn't faced yet, and prepare new music. He hopes to hold a concert by the end of the year if possible. Addressing concerns about retirement, he reassured fans that he is not disappearing or retiring, asking for their understanding and support regarding this difficult decision.

Sung Si-kyung also confirmed that his fan meeting 'April' (사월) will still take place on April 19, where he looks forward to singing and interacting with his fan club, Purple (퍼플). He concluded his message with a nostalgic note, stating, '2025 Sung Si-kyung 'Chukga', is taking a break, and I already feel a bit sad.'

The 'Chukga' concert has been a staple in the spring season, held annually at Yonsei University's outdoor theater, and has consistently sold out since its inception. However, after a busy year of performances, including 'Sung Si-kyung with Friends' and his year-end concert, he has decided to pause 'Chukga' this year.
