Sung Si-kyung Announces Break from His Signature Concert 'Chukga'
Singer Sung Si-kyung has decided to take a break from his beloved concert series 'Chukga', which he has been hosting since 2012. On April 6, he shared on his social media that after 14 years, he feels the need to pause this year. He expressed that stepping back from a concert that has always brought him immense joy requires significant courage. Sung noted that last year was particularly busy with performances, and he realized he needed some time to recharge. Despite this break, he mentioned that he won't be completely idle; he plans to reflect on himself, take on new challenges, and prepare good music, with hopes of holding a concert by the end of the year if possible. Addressing concerns about retirement, he reassured fans that he is not disappearing and asked for their understanding and support regarding this difficult decision. He also confirmed that his upcoming fan meeting 'April' on April 19 will proceed as planned, where he looks forward to singing and interacting with his fan club, Purple. He concluded his message with a nostalgic note, stating, '2025 Sung Si-kyung 'Chukga', is taking a break, and I already feel a bit sad about it.' 'Chukga' has been a staple spring concert held annually at Yonsei University's outdoor theater, consistently selling out since its inception. This year, however, Sung has chosen to take a temporary hiatus from the event.
