NewJeans Abandons 'NJZ' Name Amid Legal Dispute

The traces of NewJeans' newly announced activity name 'NJZ' are disappearing. On April 4, after the members embarked on solo activities, the social media account 'njz_official' was renamed to 'mhdhh_friends'. The new name 'mhdhh' is derived from the initials of members Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, emphasizing their individual identities following a court ruling that blocked their independent activities under the 'NJZ' name. All posts from the account have been deleted, and the account previously used for official statements from the parents of NewJeans has also changed from 'njz_pr' to 'mhdhh_pr'. Last November, NewJeans announced the termination of their contract with Ador during a press conference. In February, they hinted at solo activities under the name 'NJZ'. However, Ador filed a lawsuit claiming that the contract with NewJeans remains valid until July 2029, and they sought a court order to prevent the members from engaging in independent activities. On March 21, the Seoul Central District Court granted Ador's request, prohibiting NewJeans from pursuing solo activities without permission. Subsequently, the members announced a halt to their activities at ComplexCon in Hong Kong on March 23.
