Lee Byung-hun and Yoo Ah-in's 'Victory' Aims for Box Office Milestone

The film '승부' (Victory), starring Lee Byung-hun and Yoo Ah-in, is set to challenge the weekend box office for the second consecutive week. This weekend, 'Victory' is expected to surpass 1 million viewers.
On April 3, the film attracted 46,912 viewers, maintaining its position at the top of the box office for nine consecutive days. Its cumulative audience now stands at 920,000. Given the current trend, 'Victory' is projected to comfortably reach the 1 million mark. As of April 4 at 6:30 AM, ticket pre-sales indicate that 'Victory' has around 70,000 pre-booked tickets, significantly ahead of the second-place film 'Lobby' with approximately 34,400.
'Victory' tells the story of two of Korea's most renowned Go players, Cho Hun-hyun and Lee Chang-ho. The narrative follows Cho as he attempts to reclaim his status after losing to his disciple, Lee. Lee Byung-hun portrays Cho Hun-hyun, while Yoo Ah-in plays Lee Chang-ho. The film is directed by Kim Hyung-joo, known for 'The Outlaws' (2017).
In contrast, 'Lobby,' starring Ha Jung-woo, only managed to attract 20,019 viewers on its second day of release, failing to surpass 'Victory.' Its total audience is around 60,000.
The performance of 'Lobby' during its opening weekend will likely impact its future box office success. If it cannot close the gap with 'Victory,' it may struggle against upcoming competition, including the Hollywood blockbuster 'Amateur' set to release on April 9 and the Korean film 'Opposition' on April 16.
Other films in the box office rankings include 'Attack on Titan: The Final Season - The Last Attack' at third place with 11,057 viewers (cumulative 580,000), 'Voices' at fourth with 8,084 viewers (first entry), and 'Heretic' at fifth with 3,366 viewers (total 8,772).
