IU Shares Behind-the-Scenes Moments from '폭싹 속았수다' as Series Concludes

On April 5, singer and actress IU took to social media to share a collection of behind-the-scenes photos from the set of her Netflix series, 폭싹 속았수다 (My Lovely Liar), as a way to ease the sadness of its conclusion. In her post, she wrote, "Here’s the second batch of behind-the-scenes from Act 4 of 폭싹 속았수다. If life gives me tangerines, I’ll share them with my beloved friends from Dodongri. Thank you all. We’ve all been fooled!"
The photos showcase IU during nearly a year of filming, featuring heartwarming moments with co-star Park Bo-gum, as well as candid shots of her interacting with child actors. Fans were treated to exclusive images that highlighted her playful spirit on set.
In the series, IU portrayed multiple roles, including the teenage version of the character Aesoon, her journey through her twenties as she marries Gwan-sik, and her later years as a mother to her daughter, Geum-myeong. The chemistry between IU and Park Bo-gum in the first act captivated audiences worldwide.
폭싹 속았수다, a Netflix original series, tells the adventurous life story of Aesoon (played by IU), a rebellious girl born in the 1960s Jeju, and Gwan-sik (played by Park Bo-gum), a clumsy but lovable character. The series was crafted by writer Im Sang-chun, known for her relatable storytelling in works like 동백꽃 필 무렵 (When the Camellia Blooms) and 쌈 마이웨이 (Fight for My Way), alongside director Kim Won-seok, who has delivered heartfelt narratives in shows like 나의 아저씨 (My Mister) and 시그널 (Signal). The production had a budget of approximately 60 billion KRW, featuring a star-studded cast including Moon So-ri, Park Hae-joon, Yeom Hye-ran, Oh Jung-se, Kim Sun-ho, Lee Joon-young, and Kang Mal-geum.
The series premiered on March 7, with the first act (episodes 1-4) capturing the essence of spring, and continued to release four episodes weekly for a total of 16 episodes. It achieved the number one spot in the global TOP 10 non-English series category within three weeks of its release and recorded 6,000,000 viewership hours after the release of Act 4, securing the third position in the same category, marking a successful finale.
