HYBE's New J-Pop Boy Group Named 'aoen'

HYBE has officially announced the name of its upcoming J-Pop boy group as 'aoen' (アオエン). The name symbolizes 'blue flame,' representing the group's intense passion and energy. The debut lineup will consist of seven members, with five being revealed in the final episode of the audition program, while the remaining two will be selected through viewer voting after the show's conclusion.

This announcement was made during the broadcast of the Nihon TV audition program '応援-HIGH ~夢のSTART LINE~' (Cheer-HIGH ~Dream's START LINE~) on April 5. The episode showcased the final journey of nine contestants as they prepared for the last race of the competition. They performed three songs: the restructured program's signal song 'FINISH LINE ~ 終わりと始まりの ~', the final song 'Cough Syrup', and the ending song '君と刻む足跡'.

Contestants were evaluated on their ability to deliver contrasting performances, showcasing both powerful and refreshing sounds. They were assessed on their expressiveness, concept interpretation, performance skills, and teamwork—key competencies necessary for their debut. Despite receiving critical feedback from judges during the mid-evaluation, the participants encouraged each other and prepared to pour all their passion and energy into the final stage.

The audition program '応援-HIGH ~夢のSTART LINE~' will conclude on April 12. An extended version featuring scenes not shown on air will be available on the streaming service Hulu.
