Film 'Victory' Surpasses 1 Million Viewers Amid Controversy

The film 'Victory' (승부), directed by Kim Hyung-joo and produced by By4M Studio and Film Company Wolgwang, has crossed the significant milestone of 1 million viewers just 11 days after its release. Despite the controversy surrounding lead actor Yoo Ah-in's drug allegations, the film has maintained its position at the top of the box office since its debut. As of the morning of April 5, 2025, 'Victory' has accumulated a total of 1,056,921 viewers, indicating a strong performance as it enters its second weekend in theaters.

In addition to its box office success, 'Victory' is also performing well in advance ticket sales, suggesting that it will continue to attract audiences and surpass its break-even point this weekend. To celebrate the achievement of reaching 1 million viewers, the cast released a special thank-you video. Lee Byung-hun, who plays the role of Cho Hun-hyun, expressed his gratitude by writing '백만 감사' (Thank you, 1 million) in calligraphy. He also showcased his skills by writing the character '무심' (mindlessness), which reflects Cho's determination in the film.

Alongside Lee Byung-hun, fellow cast members Hyun Bong-sik, Moon Jung-hee, Jo Woo-jin, and director Kim Hyung-joo created a visual representation of the number '100' using Go stones, further expressing their appreciation to the audience. The 'Victory' team plans to engage with fans through stage greetings this weekend, allowing them to meet the viewers who have supported the film.

'Victory' tells the story of Cho Hun-hyun, a legendary Go player in South Korea, who, after losing a match against his disciple, seeks to reclaim his status as a champion, showcasing his innate competitive spirit.
