Yoo Hae-jin Shares His Seoul Arts University Admission Story on 'Jjanhan Hyung'
In the latest episode of 'Jjanhan Hyung' aired on April 7, 2025, Yoo Hae-jin opened up about his experiences with the admission process for Seoul Arts University. During the episode titled 'EP. 87: The Temptation of a True Drunkard and the Broken Home Button,' Yoo, who is a junior to Shin Dong-yeob at the university, reminisced about their occasional meetings at award ceremonies and a chance encounter at a Japanese izakaya in Seorae Village.
Yoo revealed that he had failed the entrance exam for the Theater and Film department twice, stating, "Back then, it was very focused on appearances." He shared that his father encouraged him to explore other options instead of pursuing theater, leading him to join the military first. After his service, he successfully enrolled at Seoul Arts University. Reflecting on his journey, Yoo noted, "If I hadn’t gotten in, I wouldn’t be where I am today."
Having been involved with the Cheongju Youth Theater since childhood, Yoo mentioned that they are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, having spent nearly 38 years there. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect with his seniors during this milestone, saying, "I hadn’t performed in theater for a long time, and I was scared of the stage after focusing solely on films. But it was a joyful experience to be with my hometown seniors and juniors."
