Lee Hyori Shares Secrets to a Harmonious Marriage with Lee Sang-soon
On April 2, 2025, singer Lee Hyori appeared as a guest on KBS Radio Cool FM's 'Oh My Girl Hyojeong's Volume Up' to support special DJ Maybee, who is celebrating her 30th anniversary in the industry. During the show, Lee Hyori and Maybee, who reunited after six years, exchanged updates about their lives. Reflecting on Maybee's return to DJing, Lee Hyori commented on her husband Lee Sang-soon's radio work, saying, "I thought I could just pop in since my segment was from 2 to 4 PM, but I realized I had to account for two hours before and after. I learned that being a DJ is no easy task."
The two artists also discussed listener stories about marriage and shared their tips for maintaining a peaceful relationship. Lee Hyori noted, "It's not all sweetness, but we manage to get along without fighting," to which she added, "It's just the two of us now, and it feels like we're becoming more isolated together." Maybee echoed this sentiment, saying, "My husband hardly goes out, so we’ve become friends. We talk about everything and have no secrets. We enjoy each other's company so much that I find myself staying home more often."
Lee Hyori reminisced about how she used to have more outgoing friends to encourage her to go out, saying, "I used to have a friend like that, but now it’s just us." When asked about her secret to avoiding conflicts, she humorously replied, "I haven’t fought much, so I can’t say. My advice is to not marry someone you’ll fight with."
She reflected on her past relationships, admitting, "I’ve been with people I fought with a lot. I wondered if it was my personality that caused the issues. But it varies from person to person; some people trigger anger in you, while others calm you down. Compatibility is key."
Since marrying Lee Sang-soon in 2013, Lee Hyori has been living in Jeju Island. Recently, the couple made headlines by purchasing a house in Pyeongchang-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, for 6 billion won, marking a new chapter in their lives.
