Kian84 Brings Laughter as He Receives Buddhist Award on 'I Live Alone'

Kian84 (기안84) continues to entertain as he adds the 'Buddhist Award' to his accolades during the latest episode of MBC's reality show, I Live Alone (나 혼자 산다), which aired on April 4, 2025.

While visiting Jeju Island, where his mother resides, Kian84 humorously did not meet her, prompting fellow cast member Jeon Hyun-moo to jokingly call him a 'disobedient child.' Despite this, Kian84's popularity remains strong, especially after receiving a call from the Jogye Order, which expressed interest in awarding him a Buddhist honor. Kian84 mentioned, "I couldn't accept such a significant award," but his fellow cast members playfully questioned if there was a Buddhist ambassador, jokingly referring to him as 'Kian Monk' and suggesting he seemed enlightened.

Kian84 has shown a consistent interest in Buddhism on I Live Alone, often visiting various temples and purchasing Buddhist souvenirs. He also attracted attention in another MBC show, Born to Travel the World (태어난 김에 세계일주), where he visited India, the birthplace of Buddhism.

In the recent episode, Kian84 delighted his co-stars by enjoying temple food, which made their mouths water. Additionally, he prayed for his late father by hanging a lantern at a temple where his father's spirit tablet is located. A monk he met in Jeju even offered a blessing for him. However, Kian84's quirky side shone through when his phone rang during the blessing, leading Jeon Hyun-moo to quip, "The Buddhist award just flew away."

Kian84, who enjoys biking as a hobby, also took the opportunity to ride around Jeju Island, soaking in the beautiful cherry blossom scenery. However, a sudden downpour added to the comedic moments of the episode, showcasing Kian84's entertaining personality once again.
