Helicopter Crash During Daegu Forest Fire Claims Life of Pilot
A tragic incident occurred on April 6, 2025, when a helicopter engaged in firefighting efforts crashed in a mountainous area of Seobyun-dong, Daegu. The fire broke out at approximately 3:12 PM, prompting the deployment of five helicopters, 24 vehicles, and 69 personnel to combat the flames. By 4:18 PM, the fire was under control. However, during the operation, a rented helicopter from the Dong-gu Office crashed, resulting in the death of the pilot, a 74-year-old man identified as A. The wreckage was found about 100 meters from the fire site, and it was confirmed that A was the sole occupant of the helicopter. The aircraft, a BELL 206L model, was manufactured in 1981, making it 44 years old. This incident follows a similar tragedy on March 26, when a rented helicopter in Uiseong County crashed, leading to the death of 73-year-old pilot Park Hyun-woo. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding A's crash.
