Child Sex Offender Jo Doo-soon Violates Curfew Again

Jo Doo-soon, a convicted child sex offender, has reportedly violated his curfew once more after previously breaching it in December 2023. According to reports from April 5, 2025, Jo was seen leaving his residence in a multi-family housing unit in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, around 5:30 PM on March 30. He descended to the first floor of the building but returned home shortly after being stopped by a probation officer present at the scene.
Currently, Jo's curfew restricts him from leaving his home during school commute hours from 7 AM to 9 AM and 3 PM to 6 PM, as well as during nighttime from 9 PM to 6 AM the following day. The Ansan Probation Office is considering filing criminal charges against him for violating the law regarding electronic monitoring.
This is not the first time Jo has disregarded his curfew. On December 4, 2023, he was sentenced to three months in prison for violating a nighttime curfew by being outside after 9 PM. At that time, he approached two police officers stationed near a security post, located about 6 to 7 meters from the entrance of his apartment building. Despite the officers urging him to return home, he initially resisted and only complied after approximately 40 minutes, claiming he had a domestic dispute with his wife as the reason for his actions.
Jo was sentenced to three months in prison on March 20, 2024, and was immediately taken into custody. He was released from Suwon Prison on June 19, 2024, and has been residing in Ansan since then. Jo was originally sentenced to 12 years in prison in December 2008 for the abduction and sexual assault of an elementary school student, resulting in serious injuries. He completed his sentence and was released on December 12, 2020.
