Archbishop Chung Soon-taek Calls for National Unity Post-Impeachment
On April 7, Archbishop Chung Soon-taek of the Archdiocese of Seoul delivered a message emphasizing the importance of national unity following the Constitutional Court's ruling on the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. In his address, he stated, "The impeachment trial is a process conducted in accordance with the Constitution and laws, and the outcome is a decision made under the principles of the rule of law. Now that the court's final decision has been rendered, our duty is to respect and calmly accept it." He further warned against the spread of hostility and hatred among citizens, asserting, "Our true adversaries are not each other, but the evils of hatred, distrust, and violence." He reminded everyone that we are all neighbors living together in one community, saying, "What we need now is love. Let us all practice the virtues of moderation and patience to pass on a more peaceful and just society to future generations."
