Two teenage males from China were apprehended by police for illegally photographing military aircraft near the 10th Fighter Wing of the Air Force in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. The Southern Gyeonggi Police Agency announced on April 7 that the two individuals, identified as A and another male, have been charged with violating the Military Base and Military Facility Protection Act and are subject to exit restrictions.

The incident occurred on March 21 at approximately 3:30 PM, when the suspects used a DSLR camera and a mobile phone to capture images of fighter jets taking off and landing at the Suwon Air Base. Police responded to a report stating that two men were seen photographing the aircraft around the military base and took them in for questioning.

Both suspects are high school students from China who entered South Korea on a tourist visa just three days prior to the incident. Authorities discovered numerous photos of the aircraft in flight on their devices, although no images of the interior of the military base were found. Reports indicate that they were photographing the aircraft from a field several hundred meters away from the base.

During police questioning, A stated that he has a hobby of taking pictures of airplanes. However, investigators are considering the possibility of national security implications due to the timing of their activities upon entering the country.

The police are currently tracing the suspects' movements over the three days leading up to their arrest. A police official mentioned that they are conducting a forensic analysis of the mobile phones to determine if the suspects had engaged in similar activities at other military or critical national facilities.

This incident is part of a troubling trend, as there have been several recent cases of Chinese nationals illegally photographing sensitive sites in South Korea. In June of last year, three Chinese individuals were arrested for using a drone to capture images of a U.S. aircraft carrier in Busan. In November, another Chinese national was caught photographing the Heonin Tomb, a protected site, with a drone, inadvertently capturing images of a nearby National Intelligence Service building, which is located in a no-fly zone. In January, a Chinese individual was also apprehended for unauthorized drone photography at Jeju International Airport, classified as a critical national facility.

However, it is expected that charges of espionage will be difficult to apply in these cases, as such charges are typically limited to actions against hostile nations like North Korea, making it challenging to prosecute individuals from third countries. Previously, a business owner suspected of operating a secret Chinese police station in Seoul was not charged with espionage but faced trial for violations of food safety laws.

The parents also refuted speculation regarding Haerin's family matters, stating that any adjustments to parental rights were made with respect for the minor's wishes and that the family is resolute in their stance. They expressed a lack of trust in the management of ADOR and HYBE, stating, "As parents, we cannot send our children back there."

Currently, both the accounts created by NewJeans and those managed by their parents have been deleted, along with all previously posted statements, videos, and photos. This move has led to speculation that it may be a strategic decision in light of the impending legal battle with ADOR.

Last November, NewJeans announced the termination of their contract with ADOR and revealed plans to operate independently under the new name NJZ, even completing trademark registration. However, the Seoul Central District Court recently ruled in favor of ADOR regarding a request to maintain the group's status and prevent them from entering into advertising contracts, rejecting the members' claims of contract violations.

Despite respecting the court's decision, the members have referred to themselves as 'revolutionaries' and have refused to return to ADOR. They have declared a halt to their activities and filed an objection to the court's ruling, with a hearing scheduled for April 9. Additionally, a lawsuit regarding the validity of their contract with ADOR is ongoing.

Reflecting on past interviews, it appears the members believed their contract with ADOR had been terminated without issue.
