Remembering Actor Kim Jin-goo on the 9th Anniversary of His Passing

Today marks the 9th anniversary of the late actor Kim Jin-goo's passing. On April 6, 2016, after finishing filming for KBS 2TV's 'Hambeoro Aeteuthage' (함부로 애틋하게) in Uljin, he suddenly felt unwell and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. He was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage and underwent surgery, but unfortunately succumbed to respiratory distress while being monitored.

A representative from the drama's production team expressed their shock and sorrow upon hearing the news, stating, "The entire cast and crew were taken aback and saddened by the news. We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased." This tragedy made 'Hambeoro Aeteuthage' his final work.

Kim Jin-goo debuted in 1971 as part of KBS's 9th public recruitment and had a prolific acting career spanning several decades. His recognizable face left a lasting impression on the audience, often eliciting an 'Ah!' response from viewers.

Known for his intense performances, he was particularly beloved by moviegoers. He showcased his talent across both film and television, appearing in notable works such as 'Oasis' (오아시스), 'Mokpo, Gangster's Paradise' (목포는 항구다), 'Pain' (통증), 'Happiness' (행복), 'Lady Vengeance' (친절한 금자 씨), 'The Dog of Flanders' (플란다스의 개), 'Mother' (마더), 'Grandma's a First Grader' (할머니는 일 학년), 'Dohui-ya' (도희야), 'My Grandma is My Brother' (할머니는 내 동생), and 'Mutant' (돌연변이). He also took on leading roles in 'Boknal' (복날), 'Grandma's a First Grader', and 'My Grandma is My Brother', demonstrating his strong presence regardless of the size of his roles.
