Man Sentenced to Prison for Repeated Car Theft in Ulsan
A man in his 50s has been sentenced to eight months in prison for repeatedly stealing valuables from parked cars in Ulsan. The Ulsan District Court's Chief Judge Lim Jeong-yoon announced the verdict on April 6, 2025. The defendant, identified as A, was charged with stealing items worth approximately 2.7 million won, including mobile phones and wallets, from three vehicles parked in an alley in Nam-gu, Ulsan, last August. After being apprehended by the police, A was released when a court rejected the prosecution's request for a detention warrant, only to commit further thefts. He later stole mobile phones, credit cards, and cash totaling around 6.5 million won from additional parked cars before being caught again. The court noted that A continued his criminal activities even after being investigated by law enforcement and had a prior criminal record. However, the judge took into account A's difficult financial situation and poor health when determining the sentence.
