Jeon Hyun-moo Expresses Envy Over Kim Jong-min's Love Story on 'Jeon Hyun-moo Plan 2'

On the April 4 episode of MBN and Channel S's reality food documentary 'Jeon Hyun-moo Plan 2', host Jeon Hyun-moo humorously expressed his envy over the love story of newlywed Kim Jong-min, who is set to marry on April 20. This episode marked the show's first-ever location shoot in Japan, featuring Jeon Hyun-moo and YouTuber Kwak Tube (Kwak Jun-bin) as they explored local delicacies in the small city of Tokushima alongside Matsuda, a popular YouTuber with 1.2 million subscribers. They introduced viewers to unique dishes such as 'salted seaweed udon', a sushi restaurant with a 62-year history, and a traditional sake brewery that has been operating for 220 years.
On their first night in Tokushima, the trio engaged in a 'late-night snack battle', where they split up to gather Japanese street snacks. While Jeon Hyun-moo faced rejection at every restaurant, Kim Jong-min successfully brought back gyoza and takoyaki. Meanwhile, self-proclaimed 'convenience store expert' Kwak Tube collected various 'hot items' from a local convenience store. They later enjoyed their snacks at a budget-friendly accommodation chosen by Kwak Tube, which included grilled fish, red snapper bread, spicy cup noodles, and a highly recommended drink from Matsuda. During this gathering, Kim Jong-min presented his wedding invitation, which featured a poem by Hermann Hesse titled 'If I Were'. When Jeon Hyun-moo asked about how he met his fiancée, Kim Jong-min shared that a friend had unexpectedly asked him to come out, leading to their first encounter. Jeon Hyun-moo teased that waiting for someone indicates interest, to which Kim Jong-min recalled that his fiancée found him cute and asked for his contact information.
Kim Jong-min expressed his affection for his fiancée, stating, 'She is wise and doesn’t do things I dislike.' He proudly mentioned that despite his indecisiveness, she reassured him with 'I love you nonetheless.' Jeon Hyun-moo admired this sentiment, saying, 'It’s impressive that she loves you not because of who you are, but in spite of it.' The production team then asked Jeon Hyun-moo if he had ever heard such words, to which he humorously replied that he was still searching for someone who would say that to him, revealing his feelings of loneliness as his friends, including Kim Jong-min, are getting married.
The next morning, the trio chose to start their second day of the food trip with udon, a representative Japanese dish. They visited a restaurant with a 90-year tradition, where they received a menu entirely in Japanese. When asked to show off his intelligence, Kim Jong-min humorously ordered by simply saying, 'Sugoi (great) menu?' They enjoyed a feast of Naruto udon, wakame (salted seaweed) udon, and bukkake (cold) udon, along with squid tempura. After filling up on udon, Jeon Hyun-moo suggested they visit a sushi restaurant run by an elderly couple in their 80s, recommended by the udon shop owner. At the sushi restaurant, they ordered 'omakase for three', and the sushi master, who has been in the business for 62 years, prepared fresh sushi on the spot. The trio was delighted by the array of sushi, including red snapper, shrimp, seasonal amberjack, horse mackerel, and gizzard shad, repeatedly exclaiming 'Oishii (delicious)'.
After finishing their sushi, Jeon Hyun-moo parted ways with Kim Jong-min, who mentioned he had another food companion, Matsuda, who lives in Osaka. Matsuda introduced them to a 220-year-old sake brewery, where they could taste fresh sake that is exclusive to the location. The three of them headed to the brewery, which has been brewing sake since 1804, and sampled various types of sake. Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube, who are not well-versed in alcohol, provided comic relief after tasting the fresh sake and coughing.
While waiting for their side dishes, Matsuda expressed his disappointment at how the show 'Jeon Hyun-moo Plan' often features food without any drinks. Jeon Hyun-moo humorously countered that his ideal pairing is zero cola. Matsuda then suggested they have a drink before the food arrived, to which Jeon Hyun-moo remarked that he sounded just like a real boss. Kwak Tube chimed in that Matsuda is indeed a working professional, surprising Jeon Hyun-moo, who had assumed he was a character or a comedian. Shortly after, they were served carpaccio made from Naruto red snapper, and the trio savored the luxurious dish alongside their drinks.
Matsuda then activated his 'Matsuda Plan', revealing he had visited a place the previous evening that was incredibly delicious. Viewers can find out where he took them and see Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube's adventures in Jeonju, known as the 'city of the noble class', in the upcoming episode of 'Jeon Hyun-moo Plan 2', airing on April 11 at 9:10 PM.
