ZEROBASEONE Makes a Splash with New Mini Album 'Blue Paradise'

The K-pop group ZEROBASEONE is solidifying its status as a leading idol group of the fifth generation with the release of their new mini album, 'Blue Paradise'. On February 24, they held a showcase at the Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Yongsan, Seoul, to discuss their latest work.
This marks ZEROBASEONE's return to the music scene approximately six months after their last mini album, 'Cinema Paradise', which was released in August 2024. They have already teased fans with the pre-release track 'Doctor! Doctor!' as part of their promotional activities.
Member Kim Gyu-bin expressed excitement about their comeback, stating, "We are back with a new album after about six months. We hope for warm support as we enjoyed preparing for it." Kim Ji-woong added, "It feels great to have an album that marks the start of the year." Seok Matthew shared his anticipation for showcasing their growth, while Han Yoo-jin mentioned their efforts to present a new side of themselves.
Jang Hao reflected on their global activities, saying, "I had many opportunities to meet fans around the world. I'm thrilled to share our music through this album." Sung Han-bin emphasized their hard work to demonstrate their musical and performance growth.
Kim Tae-rae thanked fans for their patience, noting their own growth, while Ricky mentioned their dedication to practicing hard for their music. Park Geon-wook expressed his desire to show a new side and highlighted the inclusion of unit songs that showcase their diverse charms.
Unlike their previous album, which presented a cinematic narrative, 'Blue Paradise' delves deeper into emotions. The album conveys a message that even sad moments (BLUE) are part of life, and our efforts to move forward are beautiful in themselves. It emphasizes that paradise exists within us all, showcasing the matured growth of the nine members.
Kim Tae-rae described the album's theme as 'mysterious freshness', aiming to create a new charm through a blend of mystical atmosphere and refreshing energy. The album explores emotions such as sadness, anxiety, addiction, growing pains, obsession, and escapism, presented as a narrative akin to a mystery game.
The album features unit tracks for the first time, including 'Out of Love' by Kim Ji-woong, Jang Hao, and Kim Gyu-bin; 'Step Back' by Ricky, Park Geon-wook, and Han Yoo-jin; and 'Cruel' by Sung Han-bin, Seok Matthew, and Kim Tae-rae, showcasing their strengthened vocal abilities.
The title track 'Blue' is the second collaboration with global hitmaker Kenji, who previously worked on their title track 'Good So Bad'. Jang Hao expressed his excitement about the collaboration, noting the positive feedback on their vocal improvements. Kim Tae-rae added that they aimed to highlight the details that fit well with their style.
The song 'Blue' explores the dual meanings of the word, singing about a 'sad yet beautiful fateful love'. The contrast between refreshing synth sounds and emotional vocals is expected to create a mysterious freshness. Jang Hao encouraged listeners to imagine their own 'blue' feelings while enjoying the song.
Additionally, K-pop icon G-Dragon is set to return and collaborate with them. Kim Gyu-bin expressed his admiration for G-Dragon, hoping to meet him and get his autograph.
ZEROBASEONE, formed through the Mnet audition program 'Boys Planet', is approaching its second anniversary. Han Yoo-jin reflected on their growth from adolescence to adulthood, feeling honored to share this journey with fans.
With a limited activity period of 2 years and 6 months, questions about their future plans arise. Sung Han-bin mentioned ongoing discussions among members about showing their best selves to fans, while Kim Tae-rae expressed his happiness in their current activities and desire for a lasting bond with fans.
Recently, they won the grand prize at 'The Awards' and continue to break records. Park Geon-wook expressed gratitude for being recognized as a representative idol of the fifth generation of K-pop, promising to always give their best.
Kim Gyu-bin has also been appointed as an MC for MBC's 'Show! Music Core', sharing his excitement about the role. With members already active as MCs on major music programs, the group is gaining attention in the broadcasting industry.
As ZEROBASEONE aims to continue their streak of four consecutive million-seller albums, they released 'Blue Paradise' on February 24 at 6 PM across various music streaming platforms.
