Since July 16, South Korea has experienced heavy rainfall resulting in 18 confirmed deaths across the nation. This was reportedly done to facilitate the smooth execution of the Cambodia ODA project and other church-related matters.

Around this time, on June 13, 2022, the South Korean government increased the loan support limit for the Korea-Cambodia Economic Cooperation Fund from 700 million USD to 1.5 billion USD. In November of the same year, the former presidential couple visited Cambodia.

Lee Jong-ho (이종호), the former CEO of Black Pearl Invest, abruptly halted his testimony on July 21, 2025, at the Kim Geon-hee (김건희) special investigation office. He is under investigation for allegedly accepting bribes in connection with the Deutsche Motors (도이치모터스) stock manipulation case, where he is accused of receiving 83.9 million won in exchange for reducing a co-conspirator's sentence.
