Yu Jae-ha's Timeless Classics to be Revived in Orchestral Concert

The beloved singer-songwriter Yu Jae-ha (1962-1987) will have his iconic songs brought back to life through an orchestral performance. On July 3, the concert titled 'Yu Jae-ha, Because I Love You' will take place at the Bupyeong Art Center's Dalnuri Theater, as announced by the organizing company, Afternoon Records, on June 20.

The concert will be overseen by violist Yoo Dong-hoon, a junior of Yu Jae-ha from Daeil High School, with support from the Korea Cultural and Arts Foundation for the Disabled. Yoo will collaborate with the KLIM Orchestra, flutist Park Hae-mi, and oboist Kang Shin-woo to perform orchestral arrangements of Yu's hit songs, including 'In Your Arms' and 'The Reflection of My Heart.' The event will be hosted by announcer Kim Boo-geung. Afternoon Records, which has been discovering talented musicians to honor Yu Jae-ha since 1989 through the 'Yu Jae-ha Music Competition,' is led by singer-songwriter Jaeju Son (Park Kyung-hwan), a past winner of the competition.

Yu Jae-ha is celebrated in the Korean pop music scene for his beautifully lyrical compositions. He began his music career as a keyboardist for groups like Jo Yong-pil and The Great Birth, and in November 1986, he embarked on a solo career. His first solo album, 'Because I Love You,' produced at a cost of 8 million won, was released in August the following year and received widespread acclaim. Tragically, he passed away in a car accident just two months later on November 1, earning him the title of 'tragic genius.' His debut album features nine tracks, including 'Our Love' and 'Melancholic Letter,' which continue to be cherished classics even 38 years later, often covered by many younger artists.

Afternoon Records stated, 'This concert will deeply interpret the orchestral elements of Yu Jae-ha's masterpiece 'Because I Love You,' maintaining the original intent of the songs as closely as possible. It will be a wonderful gift for fans who have cherished Yu Jae-ha's music, which left us without a single solo concert.'
