YouTuber Karacula Returns After Year-Long Hiatus Following Legal Troubles

YouTuber Karacula (real name 이세욱), who was sentenced to a suspended prison term for aiding in extortion, has made a comeback after a year-long break. On June 27, he rebranded his channel from 'Karacula Media' to 'Karacula Animal Rescue' and announced plans to create content focused on animal rescue.

Previously, Karacula gained attention for producing content related to sensational news and scandals. However, he halted his activities last July amid allegations of involvement in a case where fellow YouTuber 쯔양 (real name 박정원) was extorted for millions of won.

In his return video, Karacula expressed sincere apologies for the controversy he caused, stating, "I take full responsibility for my shortcomings that led to these events." He reflected on the consequences of his actions, saying, "I overlooked the saying that looking into the abyss will cause the abyss to look back at you."

He also mentioned that he would not engage in clarifying the numerous allegations against him, asserting, "I have become a monstrous figure beyond redemption, and any further explanations would only seem like feeble excuses."

Karacula committed to demonstrating his remorse through actions rather than words, asking viewers to watch his future endeavors. He expressed a desire to earn back the trust of those willing to give him another chance.

Currently, his YouTube channel is reported to have its monetization features disabled. During the controversy surrounding the extortion case, YouTube Korea suspended monetization for Karacula and other so-called 'cyber racketeers' for violating creator policies. In the comments of his new video, Karacula confirmed that his channel's revenue has been halted and stated, "I have no plans to operate a donation account."

Previously, Karacula was charged with aiding in the extortion of 쯔양, who was coerced into paying millions. In February, the court sentenced him to one year in prison, suspended for three years, along with 240 hours of community service.
