YouTuber Karacula Returns After Year-Long Hiatus Following Legal Issues

YouTuber Karacula (real name Lee Se-wook) has made a comeback after a year-long hiatus, during which he faced legal troubles related to extortion. On June 27, he rebranded his channel from 'Karacula Media' to 'Karacula Animal Rescue,' announcing plans to create content focused on animal rescue.
Karacula had previously gained attention for producing content about sensational events and scandals. However, he suspended his activities last July amid allegations of being involved in a scheme that extorted millions from fellow YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won).
In his first video back, Karacula expressed sincere apologies for the controversies he caused, stating, "I take full responsibility for my shortcomings that led to these events." He reflected on the consequences of his actions, saying, "I overlooked the saying that looking into the abyss will cause the abyss to look back at you."
He also mentioned that he would not engage in clarifying the numerous allegations against him, asserting, "I have become a monster beyond redemption, and any further explanations would only be pathetic excuses."
Karacula committed to demonstrating his remorse through actions rather than words, asking viewers to watch his future endeavors and expressing a desire to earn back their trust if given another chance.
Currently, his YouTube channel is not monetized, a decision made by YouTube Korea due to violations of creator policies linked to the extortion case. In the comments of his new video, Karacula confirmed that his channel's monetization has been halted and stated, "I have no plans to operate a donation account."
Previously, he was charged with aiding in the extortion of Tzuyang, resulting in a one-year prison sentence, suspended for three years, along with 240 hours of community service, handed down by the court in February.
