YouTuber Claims Late Kim Sae-ron Was Married in the U.S., Family Pursues Defamation Case

A YouTuber, referred to as A, has been accused of defamation by the family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron, claiming that she was married in the U.S. and had a child. The family has decided to conduct a digital forensic analysis of Kim's phone to gather evidence regarding allegations of her involvement with a minor. This has led to criticism that the YouTuber is attempting to tarnish Kim's reputation.

On March 19, YouTuber A released a video titled 'Shocking Exclusive: The Truth Hidden by Kim Sae-ron's Family,' asserting that Kim was indeed married to a regular employee at a major corporation in the U.S. and had a child.

In January, Kim Sae-ron posted wedding-themed photos on her personal social media account with the caption 'Marry.' At that time, she clarified in an interview that the photos were taken with friends and denied any marriage rumors.

YouTuber A claims to have verified that Kim was married, sharing a recording of a phone call between a woman presumed to be Kim and a manager from her agency. The call took place on January 8 at 8:55 AM (New York time). During the conversation, the woman stated, 'I didn’t post that; my boyfriend did,' and when questioned about the marriage rumors, she confirmed, 'Yes, it’s true. It happened overseas.'

The woman also described her boyfriend as a regular employee at a large company in New York, whom she met through a mutual acquaintance. She mentioned that her boyfriend manages her social media accounts, leading to conflicts over their relationship status.

YouTuber A further claimed that Kim's family has been raising significant issues regarding her previous boyfriend, Kim Soo-hyun, from four years ago, while Kim was reportedly living a married life with another man. A stated that the family is sending materials from Kim's phone to a media outlet, suggesting they are aware of her marriage.

The video has sparked backlash from netizens, who accused the YouTuber of defaming the deceased and questioned the appropriateness of revealing her private matters.

The family of Kim Sae-ron has not yet publicly responded to the YouTuber's claims but has indicated plans to use digital forensics to find evidence of her relationship with Kim Soo-hyun.

Kim Sae-ron passed away on February 16. Her family and the media outlet 'Gaseyeon' allege that she was in a relationship with Kim Soo-hyun from 2015 to 2021, during which time she faced financial difficulties after a drunk driving incident in 2022. They claim she was pressured to repay a loan of 700 million KRW for accident-related expenses.

In contrast, Kim Soo-hyun's side asserts that they were not in a relationship during her minor years and that they have not demanded repayment of any debts related to her after writing them off as bad debt.
