A man in his twenties was arrested for attempting to illegally cross into North Korea via the Unification Bridge in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. According to the Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency's Security Investigation Unit, a warrant for his arrest was issued on June 15, 2025, for violating military facility protection laws. 

The suspect, identified as A, allegedly crossed a barbed wire fence into a military zone around 11 PM on June 11. Military personnel spotted him and detained him at the scene. He was subsequently handed over to the police, who arrested him as he was caught in the act. 

A reportedly stated to the police that he crossed the fence with thoughts of unification, expressing a desire to contribute to peace between North and South Korea. 

This was not A's first attempt; he had previously tried to enter the Unification Bridge checkpoint on June 3, where he claimed it was 'heaven's will' and insisted he needed to go to Panmunjom. 

The Unification Bridge is a military facility and currently the only bridge connecting the two Koreas. Access beyond this point is restricted to civilians, requiring prior permission. A was quoted as saying he believed that crossing the bridge would lead him directly into North Korea. 

A police official stated, 'We have executed the arrest warrant for his two attempts to cross into North Korea and are currently investigating the details and motivations behind these incidents.'

He explained that during that time, the fundraising limit for congressional support committees was 200 million won, while the official campaign cost limit for the Seoul mayoral election exceeded 3 billion won. He noted that for incumbent lawmakers running for office, raising tens of billions of won in campaign funds was only feasible through means other than wealthy donors, with central party support being a primary route.

Kim recounted an incident just days before the official campaign began when a staff member from his campaign informed him that a guest from SK was coming. Upon meeting this individual, who he had never seen before, Kim was handed a shopping bag containing cash, which he accepted with gratitude, believing it was intended for campaign use. He later learned that the central party had requested this financial support from SK, which had agreed after its own review.

He stated that the campaign staff, eager for funds, used the money joyfully and reported all income and expenditures to the election commission. The prosecution's legal issue stemmed from the failure to issue a receipt for the donation, which the staff assumed the central party would handle, a mistake they later recognized.

During a 2004 investigation, Kim claimed that a prosecutor told him that after concluding the investigation into President Roh Moo-hyun's campaign funds, they pressured SK's chairman, Chey Tae-won, to provide testimony against him. This, he argued, illustrated the targeted nature of the prosecution's investigation.

Kim expressed his intention to reveal everything during the upcoming confirmation hearing, stating that the methods of political prosecution, including targeted investigations, witness intimidation, and defamation, would be fully exposed. He also mentioned that he would welcome any witnesses, including the prosecutor who handled his case, to testify during the hearing.

Lee admitted, "I have a bad feeling lately," heightening the tension. 

The timing is particularly concerning as it is a season when boils tend to appear more frequently. Lee has previously undergone eight surgeries for boils on his buttocks, some of which required the insertion of a drainage tube due to their severity. He has been battling this rare disease, which causes recurrent pus and inflammation in areas like the buttocks and armpits, since he was a middle school student, spanning nearly 20 years. 

"I came for a check-up because of the festival season," Lee explained. After an ultrasound, the doctor noted that his buttocks were well-managed, but signs of boils were found in his armpits, indicating the need for careful monitoring. Fortunately, the doctor mentioned that early detection is a positive sign and that symptoms might improve as Lee enters his 40s when male hormone levels decrease. Lee responded with a bittersweet smile, saying, "It's sad yet happy news." 

This condition can worsen due to factors like weakened immunity, stress, and high-fat diets. Lee acknowledged the importance of early intervention and self-care, although he admitted that his lifestyle habits could use improvement. When he revealed his penchant for greasy takeout, e-cigarettes, and distilled spirits, the doctor firmly advised him to cut back. 

After his check-up, Lee returned home to find his living space in disarray. Observing the mess, fellow cast member Seo Jang-hoon remarked, "Such an environment can also affect boils." In an attempt to tidy up, Lee sprinkled vinegar and baking soda on his sofa and vacuumed, but he struggled to remove cat urine stains, ultimately exclaiming, "I can't take it anymore; I just need to replace the sofa!" He shared, "The pain was so severe that I couldn't even get up; lying down or sitting was difficult." He first experienced symptoms in middle school, recalling a time when an abscess burst during class, soaking his uniform and forcing him to leave early. At that time, he didn't realize it was a medical issue and treated it at home, while his mother mistook it for simple acne. 

Lee's mother recounted how, during hot weather, he would develop lumps from his buttocks to his anus, which would burst and soak his clothes, necessitating multiple changes of underwear. 

As he prepares for a busy season of festivals and performances, Lee visited the hospital to prevent any potential flare-ups, expressing concern that his symptoms might return despite his diligent management. He disclosed that he has undergone three surgeries with this doctor and a total of eight surgeries overall, emphasizing the importance of ongoing care.
