Yoon Jung-soo Opens Up About His Past Bankruptcy Struggles on 'Home for Rent'

In a recent episode of MBC's entertainment show 'Home for Rent' (구해줘! 홈즈), comedian Yoon Jung-soo candidly shared the hardships he faced during his bankruptcy, revealing the grim realities of his life at that time. On July 10, Yoon revisited his former apartment in Cheongdam-dong after more than a decade. This was the same property he had purchased with a loan, which eventually went to auction due to his financial struggles stemming from a loan guarantee. He disclosed, "At that time, I had a loan of 1 billion won. I worked hard to reduce it to 700 million won, but suddenly it ballooned back to 1.2 billion won," expressing the pain he had kept hidden.
Yoon recounted how he faced dire situations, including having his water and electricity cut off after failing to pay utility bills for several months. "Although tap water was unavailable, drinking water was accessible, so I used that to do laundry. I couldn't afford to send my clothes to a laundromat, and it took me four hours just to wash them," he reminisced. Ultimately, his home was completely seized, with the front door locked with a chain, leaving him unable to enter.
During this challenging period, even his broadcasting fees were seized, making it difficult for him to make ends meet. Yoon revealed, "At that time, my monthly interest alone was 9 million won. Even after losing my home, the debt remained, and I realized that debt was far scarier than losing a house. That experience has made me live with gratitude today."
Upon hearing his story, fellow cast member Jo Hye-ryun expressed her surprise and empathy, saying, "I had no idea you had worked so hard," while Kim Sook added, "It breaks my heart to see it as someone else's home." Yoon also extended heartfelt encouragement to those currently struggling, stating, "There are many people still facing difficulties. I hope anyone suffering for any reason can overcome their pain."
In a positive turn of events, Yoon Jung-soo is set to marry a Pilates instructor who is ten years his junior later this year, marking a new chapter in his life after overcoming past hardships.
