Yoo Yeon-seok Makes MBC Comeback After 9 Years with 'The Call You're Making Now'

Actor Yoo Yeon-seok is set to return to MBC after a nine-year hiatus with the new drama 'The Call You're Making Now' (지금 거신 전화는). The production press conference took place on November 21 at the MBC headquarters in Sangam-dong, Seoul, featuring director Park Sang-woo alongside cast members Yoo Yeon-seok, Chae Soo-bin, Heo Nam-jun, and Jang Gyu-ri.

'The Call You're Making Now' is a romantic thriller that unfolds from a blackmail phone call, centering on a couple in a politically arranged marriage who have been living as a showpiece for three years. The drama brings together talented actors like Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin, with a script by the acclaimed writer Kim Ji-woon and direction by the skilled Park Sang-woo.

During the event, Yoo Yeon-seok expressed his excitement about returning to MBC, stating, "I left MBC, which felt like home, and now I'm back. My first drama was MBC's 'General Hospital 2'. After working on various projects, I’m thrilled to meet viewers again in a romantic thriller genre after such a long time. I feel both excited and expectant."

He elaborated on his choice to take on this role, saying, "Recently, I've portrayed indecisive and warm characters in romance dramas. In this script, I play a character named Sa-eon, who is very cold, hides his emotions, and has a heart of ice. Through a series of events, his romantic side begins to emerge."

Yoo Yeon-seok added, "As I peel back the layers of this cold character like an onion, I discovered his charm. I was drawn to the transformation of Sa-eon."

MBC's 'The Call You're Making Now' is set to premiere on November 22 at 9:50 PM.
