Yoo Seung-jun Shares Thoughts Ahead of Third Administrative Lawsuit

On March 20, 2025, Yoo Seung-jun (유승준) took to his social media to express his feelings as he prepares for his third administrative lawsuit. He stated, "This afternoon, the trial regarding the Minister of Justice and the LA Consulate begins. Everyone should be equal before the law. Is that really the case? I feel exhausted. I wanted to give up many times, but I couldn't because of love. It's been 23 years now." He also shared a brief video where he reflected on the challenges in the entertainment industry, saying, "There are many painful and noisy events. It feels like we live in a harsh and scary society. My heart aches. There are no easy solutions. While there can be unfair and difficult situations, what can we do? We can only hold our ground and keep living. I feel sorry for the juniors who have faced heartbreaking situations. We need to stay focused and survive to smile later." Along with his message, he included hashtags such as "two victories," "entry ban," "visa denial," "meaningless," "all are equal before the law," "may it be upheld," and "things will get better, South Korea."

Later that afternoon, the Seoul Administrative Court's Administrative Division 5 will hold the first hearing for Yoo Seung-jun's lawsuit against the LA Consulate and the Ministry of Justice regarding the cancellation of his visa denial and the confirmation of the non-existence of an entry ban. This lawsuit marks his third attempt against the government, following previous cases in 2015 and 2020.

Yoo Seung-jun debuted in 1997 and gained popularity with numerous hit songs. However, he faced controversy in 2002 when he acquired U.S. citizenship just before his military enlistment, leading to a ban on his entry into South Korea. After years of being unable to return, he applied for an Overseas Korean visa (F-4) in 2015, which was denied. He then filed his first lawsuit claiming the entry ban was unjust. After a prolonged legal battle, he ultimately won, and if the government issues a visa in accordance with the court's ruling, he could set foot in South Korea for the first time in over 20 years. However, the LA Consulate has continued to deny his visa application, prompting him to pursue further legal action.
