Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Yi-kyung React to Shocking Scam Story on 'How Do You Play?'
In the latest episode of MBC's variety show How Do You Play? (놀면 뭐하니?), aired on May 24, 2025, hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Yi-kyung were left speechless by Lee Yi-kyung's shocking tale of being scammed out of a significant amount of money. The episode featured Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Yi-kyung traveling to Tokyo, Japan, to fulfill a promise made to actress Shim Eun-kyung during the 'Suspicious Gourmet' segment three months prior.
Upon arriving at Haneda International Airport, Yoo Jae-suk remarked, "This is my first overseas shoot since How Do You Play?" Lee Yi-kyung humorously questioned the camera setup, wondering where his camera was, to which Yoo Jae-suk pointed out the existing cameras and advised him not to worry too much about it. Lee Yi-kyung noted the small crew size, comparing it to a university broadcasting station, but Yoo Jae-suk explained the need for a smaller team to minimize risks.
Yoo Jae-suk shared that they were in Japan because Shim Eun-kyung had promised to meet them there, and they wanted to keep it a small gathering to avoid overwhelming her. As they took a taxi to meet her, Lee Yi-kyung revealed he had recently experienced stress from being scammed while trying to sell furniture during a move. He explained that a buyer had arrived an hour early, claiming to be with a moving company, and he ended up giving them his home password, which led to the buyer stealing his belongings.
Yoo Jae-suk pointed out the danger of sharing personal information with strangers, while Lee Yi-kyung reflected on his trust and the stress it caused him, even leading to a broken tooth that night. When they finally met Shim Eun-kyung, she appeared shy and admitted to feeling a bit awkward despite their previous exchanges.
The trio then enjoyed tea at a dessert café, where Lee Yi-kyung playfully expressed how much he missed Shim Eun-kyung. She humorously recounted how she fainted after their last recording, prompting laughter from the group. Shim Eun-kyung also mentioned receiving a lot of messages after appearing on the show, including from old acquaintances, and joked about how people compared her and Lee Yi-kyung to a failed blind date.
To celebrate Shim Eun-kyung's birthday, Lee Yi-kyung gifted her a present he bought at a duty-free shop, which surprised her. As she unwrapped the gift, she found a set of seaweed and sliced kimchi, which Lee Yi-kyung explained was to remind her of Korean flavors while she was in Japan. She expressed her gratitude, saying it would be very useful during her meals.
Later, the trio visited a quiet park to enjoy convenience store desserts, where Yoo Jae-suk shared his concern about Lee Yi-kyung's scam story, emphasizing the importance of not sharing home passwords. Shim Eun-kyung expressed her worry about how she would feel if she were in Lee Yi-kyung's situation, fearing it would prevent her from visiting Japan. Lee Yi-kyung playfully asked if she wished he hadn't come to Japan, to which she hoped the scam would be resolved quickly.
