YG Entertainment Unveils 14-Year-Old Trainee CHANYA as Part of New Girl Group Project

YG Entertainment has introduced the second trainee of their upcoming four-member girl group project, 'YG NEXT MONSTER.' The spotlight is on 14-year-old CHANYA, who hails from Thailand. On June 16, YG shared a video titled 'YG NEXT MONSTER | CHANYA - the grudge' on their official blog, showcasing CHANYA's debut performance. This video focuses solely on her live vocal abilities, without any stage props, highlighting her impressive talent.
Despite her young age, CHANYA captivated viewers with her deep emotional expression and soulful voice. Her poignant gaze and immersive facial expressions conveyed the song's emotions beautifully, and during the climax, she delivered powerful high notes that electrified the audience.
Following her performance, YG's chief producer Yang Hyun-suk expressed his emotional reaction, stating he was 'almost in tears,' which added to the excitement of the event.
CHANYA is the second member revealed after the first member, EVELLi. Both are part of YG's 'YG NEXT MONSTER' project, which aims to connect with fans. EVELLi's rap video has already garnered 19 million views on YouTube, while her dance performance video has surpassed 7 million views, indicating a strong global interest even before their official debut.
CHANYA quickly became a hot topic among international fans, receiving praise such as 'unbelievable for a 14-year-old' and 'the future of YG's vocal line.'
YG plans to unveil a total of four members through this project, with the remaining two members expected to be revealed by the end of the year. This strategy aligns with the upcoming promotional activities for Baby Monster's pre-release single 'HOT SAUCE' in July and is also linked to BLACKPINK's anticipated comeback, emphasizing YG's strategic focus for the latter half of the year.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the next member to be introduced in the 'YG NEXT MONSTER' project.
