YG Entertainment Announces Major Reboot with New Artist Launches and BLACKPINK Comeback

YG Entertainment is set to kick off a significant 'YG Reboot' in the second half of 2025, focusing on enhancing artist activities and launching new groups. On May 26, Yang Hyun-suk, the chief producer of YG, released an interview video titled 'BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, AND UPCOMING ROOKIES | YG ANNOUNCEMENT' on the official YG blog, marking his first public appearance in about seven months to unveil a new master plan that includes BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, and debut plans for new artists.
Yang revealed that BLACKPINK's new song is expected to be released soon, marking their first new music since their second studio album, [BORN PINK], which came out in September 2022. This will be their first new release in approximately two years and eight months. Additionally, BLACKPINK is scheduled to embark on a large-scale world tour starting July 5, further heightening global fan anticipation for their comeback.
As a representative of the fourth generation of K-pop, BABYMONSTER will release a pre-debut single titled 'HOT SAUCE' on July 1, followed by a second single in September and a mini-album on October 1. Yang described 'HOT SAUCE' as a track infused with late 1980s hip-hop sounds, stemming from the idea of how teenage members would reinterpret hip-hop music from 40 years ago.
TREASURE is also set to make a comeback with a mini-album on September 1, followed by a world tour starting in October. Yang pledged to provide full support for TREASURE to release more than two albums each year, indicating a proactive approach to expanding their activities.
The video also revealed YG's blueprint for debuting new artists, with two boy groups and two girl groups currently in preparation. Notably, a four-member girl group has already confirmed its lineup. Similar to BABYMONSTER, this new girl group will gradually release practice videos before their debut, with the first member set to be unveiled on May 28. The video concluded with the message, 'THE FIRST MEMBER OF YG'S NEXT GIRL GROUP. STAY TUNED,' capturing the attention of global music fans.
Yang emphasized the desire to showcase the talents of the new artists authentically and announced that the revamped YG system will be fully revealed starting in the second half of the year. This year will focus on the growth of BABYMONSTER, while the debut of the next girl group is planned for next year, suggesting that the release of practice videos is part of a long-term strategy to build a dedicated fanbase.
With BLACKPINK's comeback, BABYMONSTER's continuous releases and mini-album launch, TREASURE's mini-album and world tour, and the introduction of new artists, YG is gearing up for a full-scale offensive in the global K-pop market in the latter half of 2025.
