Yang Jung-a Talks About Playing Villain During Divorce Proceedings

On the March 5 episode of MBC's Radio Star (라디오스타), actress Yang Jung-a (양정아) revealed that she portrayed a villain while going through a divorce lawsuit. The episode featured fellow actors Kim Young-ok (김영옥), Na Moon-hee (나문희), Kim Jae-hwa (김재화), and Kim Ah-young (김아영) in a special segment titled 'Suspicious Women' (수상한 그녀들).
Yang Jung-a, who is a graduate of MBC's 22nd talent recruitment program, shared, "In the 22nd batch, there were myself, Shim Eun-ha (심은하), and Cha In-pyo (차인표). Above us were Jang Dong-gun (장동건), and below us were Ahn Jae-wook (안재욱) and Choi Ji-woo (최지우). At that time, MBC was a paradise for dramas and a gateway for actors."
She also mentioned that she often heard comments about looking older than her age when she was younger, noting that Shim Eun-ha is just a year younger than her.
Reflecting on her role in the SBS drama 'Sister Is Alive' (언니는 살아있다), Yang Jung-a stated, "I played the villain and received all sorts of criticism from the public. My personal life was quite challenging at that time. My father was ill, my pet dog of 19 years passed away, and I was in the midst of a divorce lawsuit." Host Kim Gura (김구라) expressed sympathy, asking if it was a lawsuit and suggesting a settlement, to which Yang Jung-a replied, "It didn’t happen that way."
Despite the turmoil in her personal life, she expressed satisfaction with how the drama turned out.
Yang Jung-a also reminisced about her time on the SBS variety show 'Gold Miss Is Coming' (골드미스가 간다), recalling a memorable performance by Lady Gaga, which she humorously noted was impossible to replicate. "The performance was intense, with fire coming from her chest. I had to win first place to go on a date, which was quite the pressure!" she laughed.
The episode featured a nostalgic look back at her past performances, leaving the audience in stitches. Kim Guk-jin (김국진) praised her, saying, "You’re so good! I could just watch this while eating!" To which Kim Young-ok quipped, "What are you saying? That’s quite suggestive!"
