Won Bin Makes a Comeback in New Advertisement, Fans Hope for His Return to Acting

Actor Won Bin has re-emerged in the public eye through a new advertisement, reigniting hopes for his return to the acting scene. The cosmetics brand he represents recently released a new ad featuring Won Bin, who appears in a white suit and provides narration in his signature deep voice. Despite a 15-year hiatus from acting, he showcased an ageless appearance that left fans in awe.

After disappearing from the spotlight following the conclusion of a coffee brand endorsement last year, this new advertisement has brought a wave of excitement among fans eager for his comeback.

Won Bin debuted in 1997 with the KBS drama Proposal (프로포즈) and has since starred in numerous films and dramas, including Autumn in My Heart (가을동화), Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War (태극기 휘날리며), and Mother (마더). However, he has not taken on any new projects since his role in the 2010 film The Man from Nowhere (아저씨).

In 2015, he married actress Lee Na-young and welcomed their first child in December of the same year, but he has only appeared in advertisements since then.

To address the anticipation from fans, a representative from Won Bin's agency stated, "He is very eager to return with a new project. Given his long absence, he wants to make a strong comeback with a quality production." Lee Na-young also mentioned that Won Bin is looking for scripts that convey themes of humanism, although such projects are scarce.

Rumors of Won Bin's retirement surfaced in 2019 when a promotional material for a photoshoot included a request to avoid referring to him as an 'actor.' While the agency claimed this was a request from Won Bin's side, his team denied the retirement rumors, clarifying that they had not made such a request and that the commentary was at the discretion of the brand.

Despite these clarifications, updates on Won Bin's activities have remained scarce. Even during the 20th-anniversary events for Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War, one of his most notable films, he did not make an appearance, leaving fans longing for more.

Recently, designer Ji Chun-hee shared insights on KBS2's show Boss's Ear is Donkey's Ear (사장님 귀는 당나귀 귀), stating that Won Bin seems to feel burdened by the idea of returning to work but is still actively reviewing potential projects.
