WINNER's Kang Seungyoon Shares Heartfelt Letter After Military Discharge

Kang Seungyoon of the K-pop group WINNER has expressed his honest feelings about his military discharge through a handwritten letter shared on the official fan community platform, Weverse, on December 19.
In his letter, he reflected on the day he left to serve, recalling the mixed emotions of fear and nostalgia as he faced an unknown life away from his fans. He admitted, "I think you felt the same way, but it was the first time I had to be away from you for such a long time, and I worried about how distant we might become during that time."
Despite the challenges, he found comfort in the unwavering support from his fans, stating, "I was able to check in on the love you sent me regularly, which helped me focus on my military duties with peace of mind. Without your consistent encouragement through Weverse, letters, and social media, I wouldn’t have been able to smile and endure as I did."
Kang Seungyoon expressed deep gratitude, saying, "The experiences of overcoming hardships together with you and WINNER have pushed me beyond my limits. I was a happy soldier because of you, and I was loved by my comrades because you were there for me. I am excited about the new stories I will write, which have been shaped by my experiences."
Looking ahead, he shared his plans to enjoy a bit of daily life before focusing on a quick comeback. He aims to complete around ten songs for 2024, including sketches, and is committed to working on new music. He reassured fans, "I will do my best to make appearances whenever possible, so you won’t have to wait too long."
In closing, he thanked his fans for their patience, love, and support, saying, "I am incredibly grateful for everything. I want to express all my thanks to you! I wanted to show my face even briefly, but I hope you understand my desire to wait for the members. I will greet you soon with Jinwoo, Seunghoon, and Minho! I love you all! Eat well, sleep well, and rest well!"
Kang Seungyoon enlisted in the military on June 20, 2023, completed basic training, and served in the 6th Infantry Division, where he was recognized as an exemplary soldier, receiving awards for his performance and dedication.
