Winner's Fate Diverges as Kang Seung-yoon Completes Military Service

On December 19, Kang Seung-yoon of the K-pop group Winner officially completes his mandatory military service. He enlisted on June 20, 2023, serving in the 6th Infantry Division. As the only member of Winner to serve in active duty, Kang Seung-yoon distinguished himself by receiving accolades such as the Outstanding Trainee Award and winning honors in various competitions, including a literary contest and a reading report presentation, culminating in an early promotion.

In stark contrast, fellow member Song Min-ho has faced controversy during his time as a social service worker. After returning from a six-day trip to Hawaii in October, he has been accused of failing to report to his assigned post at the Mapo Community Service Center. Allegations have surfaced that he manipulated attendance records by signing in bulk, raising questions about his commitment to service.

YG Entertainment has stated that Song Min-ho's sick leave was for medical reasons and that all other leave was taken in accordance with regulations. However, rumors of a romantic relationship with actress Park Joo-hyun have further fueled public scrutiny against him.

The Military Manpower Administration has begun investigating the situation, and police have received complaints regarding potential violations of military service laws by Song Min-ho. Additionally, L, the facility manager accused of facilitating Song Min-ho's alleged misconduct, is also under investigation.

Despite the mounting pressure, Song Min-ho has remained silent. Following the emergence of the controversy on December 17, he reportedly took sick leave on December 18 and did not report for duty.
