Wi Ha-jun Admits He Didn't Enjoy the Fame from 'Squid Game'

Actor Wi Ha-jun revealed that he did not fully enjoy the immense popularity of 'Squid Game'. During an appearance on KBS 2TV's 'Going and Coming Lee Min-jung' on June 27, he joined fellow cast members Yang Dong-geun and Park Gyu-young.

Host Boom mentioned that Wi Ha-jun was recognized as a globally sexy actor, to which Lee Min-jung added that he was ranked as the top male celebrity in either Argentina or Brazil. Wi Ha-jun shared that he has adjusted his workout routine based on his roles, stating, "I lost all the weight I gained over the past year," and mentioned that he has been focusing on martial arts and cardio recently.

When asked about the audition process for 'Squid Game', An Jae-hyun inquired how it was conducted. Park Gyu-young explained that she submitted a video to the production company, which then reached out to her. Wi Ha-jun recounted that he visited the production company for a courtesy call, and they suggested an audition after hearing his voice tone.

He initially thought it would be a casual reading but found the director and the production head present. He was told to relax, but due to his nature, he memorized the script beforehand.

Wi Ha-jun expressed that he felt stressed rather than enjoying the show's success, saying, "I dislike disappointment too much, so I try not to have expectations. If I expect too much, the disappointment is greater." Lee Min-jung humorously remarked that he seemed to have high expectations today, as he wore white pants.

He added that he aimed to enjoy the press conference for 'Squid Game 2', to which Park Gyu-young responded that she thought he was naturally good at enjoying such moments, recalling how he escorted her when she felt nervous.
