Here are three exciting options for your weekend entertainment:

▶ Disney+ Series 'Trigger'

The KNS investigative reporting team, led by the thrill-seeking team leader Oh So-ryong (김혜수), delves into mysterious and intense cases in a chaotic world. While pursuing a 20-year-old missing person case, the team becomes embroiled in an office affair scandal. Tensions rise as an anonymous whistleblower known as 'Trigger' begins to fracture the team, and the arrival of the extreme individualist Han Do (정성일) as a new recruit adds to the drama. This 12-episode series presents dark incidents with a thrilling yet humorous twist.

▶ LG Cup Chosun Ilbo Championship

The 29th LG Cup has culminated in a showdown between two peers, Byun Sang-il (변상일) 9-dan and Ke Jie (커제) 9-dan, representing Korea and China, respectively. The finals will take place on January 20, 22, and 23. Byun Sang-il advanced by defeating Lee Ji-hyun, while Ke Jie overcame Shin Jin-seo. After winning the Chunlan Cup last year, Byun Sang-il is vying for his second major world title, while a victory for Ke Jie would mark his ninth world championship title. Although Ke Jie has a perfect record of six wins against Byun, recent performances suggest a competitive match ahead. The prize money is set at 300 million KRW for the winner and 100 million KRW for the runner-up.

▶ Play 'Red Leaves'

In a small American town enjoying a peaceful autumn, the family of Eric receives shocking news: the young daughter of their neighbor Karen, named Amy, has gone missing. Jimmy, Eric's son, who was caring for Amy the night before, becomes the prime suspect. The play tragically explores how a seemingly solid relationship unravels under the weight of suspicion. This production won the 14th Korea Theater Awards in 2021, featuring actors Kim Kang-woo, Park Wan-kyu, and Ji Hyun-jun sharing the role of Eric. The play runs until March 1 at the National Theater's Daloreum Theater.
