Voting Irregularities Reported in Anyang During Presidential Election

On June 3, 2025, during the 21st presidential election, multiple voting irregularities were reported at polling stations in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, prompting police investigations. At approximately 7:39 AM, a voter, referred to as A, discovered that a signature not belonging to them was recorded in the voter registration list at a polling station in Dalan-dong. The name '朴' (Park) was noted, while A's surname was entirely different, leading them to assert that it was not their signature. The Election Commission later confirmed that there was another voter with the same name who had already participated in early voting. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, suspecting that an unidentified individual may have signed on behalf of another voter. Following this, A reportedly refused to cast their vote and returned home.

Additionally, at around 10:26 AM, another polling station in Pyeongan-dong experienced an incident where approximately ten ballots were distributed without the required official stamp. The police reported that around 20 unstamped ballots were identified. The Gyeonggi Province Election Commission explained that the polling station was a 'concentrated polling place' with multiple stations in one building, which likely caused confusion during the identity verification process. Despite the missing stamps, these ballots were recorded as valid votes in the election logs.

In a separate incident earlier that morning, a woman in her 50s was charged by police after tearing up her ballot when an election official refused her request to exchange it due to a marking error.
