Village Head Arrested for Sexual Assault of 90-Year-Old Woman in Gumi

A village head in his 70s has been urgently arrested for committing a sexual crime against a 90-year-old woman in a rural village in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province. According to the Gumi Police Station, the suspect, identified as Mr. A, entered the home of the elderly woman, referred to as Ms. B, around 2:30 PM on February 14 and attempted sexual assault before fleeing the scene. The crime was captured on a home security camera, leading to Mr. A's arrest just three hours later after Ms. B's family reported the incident. The family had installed the camera to monitor Ms. B's health due to her advanced age. During police questioning, Mr. A admitted to the crime. Ms. B is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital but is reportedly experiencing ongoing anxiety. A police official stated that there were no signs of stalking by Mr. A towards Ms. B, and due to her age, further details cannot be disclosed.
