Vietnamese Nationals Arrested for Drug Party in Rural Pension

A group of Vietnamese nationals has been handed over to prosecutors after allegedly hosting a drug party at a rural pension in Okcheon, South Korea. The Daejeon Police Agency's narcotics investigation unit reported on the 11th that six individuals, including a 33-year-old drug dealer identified as A and three women, along with three undocumented Vietnamese men in their twenties, have been charged with violating drug control laws.

The group is accused of gathering on September 16 to consume drugs such as ecstasy and ketamine. According to police, A, a housewife, was approached by men who expressed a desire to have a drug party with young women. After receiving funds from them, she recruited two female university students of the same nationality to join the event. The women had met at Vietnamese restaurants in South Korea and traveled from Gyeonggi Province and Gyeongsang Province to Okcheon for the party. The three men involved were construction workers and were residing in the country illegally.

During police questioning, A admitted to purchasing the drugs via Telegram. Authorities had received tips about the group’s drug use and managed to apprehend all suspects at the scene, seizing 32.5 ecstasy pills, 9.41 grams of ketamine, and 1,150,000 KRW in drug sale funds.

A police spokesperson stated, "Since September, we have been conducting special crackdowns on narcotics in entertainment districts such as clubs. Drug-related crimes not only devastate individuals but also pose a serious threat to public safety, so we urge anyone who witnesses such activities to report them immediately."
