VEKOEL Celebrates 20th Anniversary of 'Hip Hop' with New OST Release

Rapper VEKOEL is set to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the iconic Korean comic '힙합' with a new soundtrack. The track titled 'More Style(모어 스타일)' will be released on December 6 at 6 PM KST across various online music platforms. This OST is part of a special album produced by Naturally Music, celebrating the legacy of the comic created by writer Kim Soo-yong.

'Hip Hop' is recognized as Korea's first dance comic, gaining popularity for its dynamic dance battle scenes and detailed explanations of various dance techniques. It has also played a significant role in standardizing dance terminology across different regions in Korea and is noted as the most recent million-seller in Korean comics.

The commemorative album, which has been in preparation for two years, features contributions from various artists including Beopad, Poi, BXB, Jeong Sang-soo, Lil Jae-woo, Bruno Champman, More, Jimmy Brown, Lil Jun X ziika, Wake Up GG, 909, Vanillair, Lil Thunder11, Woody Gochild, and Sleepy, with VEKOEL being the latest addition.

The track 'More Style' blends oriental themes with a trap style, showcasing VEKOEL's unique voice alongside the captivating production of VENKO. Since his debut with the single 'Garçons Eyes' in 2020, VEKOEL has been actively releasing albums and music videos, and has appeared on Mnet's 'Show Me the Money 9' and '11'.

VEKOEL expressed his gratitude, stating, "I sincerely thank writer Kim Soo-yong for inspiring many, including myself, to rekindle our passion for hip hop music and culture through the 'Hip Hop' comic. It is an honor to be part of this project."

The commemorative album will continue to be released weekly every Friday at 6 PM KST, leading up to the launch of the first kit album format smart comic book, 'Kit Page', scheduled for the end of December. This anniversary album features a variety of genres including hip hop, rock, and R&B, bringing together numerous artists to celebrate the 20-year journey of 'Hip Hop' while building anticipation for a new season in 2025.
