Yoo Jae-suk and Ha Ha Win Best Couple at 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards

The 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards (MBC 연예대상) aired live on January 28, showcasing a surprising turn of events as Yoo Jae-suk (유재석) and Ha Ha (하하) took home the Best Couple Award (베커상). The ceremony was hosted by broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo (전현무), actor Lee Jang-woo (이장우), and Baby Vox member and actress Yoon Eun-hye (윤은혜).

The Best Couple Award, known for its popularity, was presented by former 'We Got Married' stars Andy (앤디) from Shinhwa and singer Solbi (솔비). The nominees included notable pairs such as Park Na-rae (박나래) and Yang Se-hyung (양세형) from 'Home Alone', Ki-an 84 (기안84) and Kim Dae-ho (김대호) from 'I Live Alone', and Yoo Jae-suk and Ha Ha from 'How Do You Play?'. Other contenders were Song Ji-eun (송지은) and Park Wi (박위) from 'All The Butlers', as well as Ki-an 84 and Pani Bottle (빠니보틀) from 'Born to be a Musician'.

During the nominations, Lee Jang-woo expressed his desire for the award, while Park Na-rae humorously mentioned the complexities of her relationship with Yang Se-hyung, noting that her mother had a hand in their pairing. Yang Se-hyung added a light-hearted comment about his on-screen love line with Lee Young-ja (이영자) on 'My Little Old Boy'.

In a surprising outcome, Yoo Jae-suk and Ha Ha won the Best Couple Award, despite Ha Ha's absence due to personal commitments. Yoo Jae-suk accepted the award solo, expressing his shock and gratitude. He acknowledged Ha Ha's absence, stating, "It means a lot to receive this award with Ha Ha. I’m not sure why the other members are here since it’s a Best Couple award. Congratulations, Ha Ha, and Happy New Year!"

The MBC Entertainment Awards, which began as a comedy awards show, celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. Originally scheduled for December 29, the event was postponed due to a tragic incident involving a Jeju Air flight. After a national mourning period, the production team decided to hold the ceremony on the first day of the Lunar New Year, January 28, as a live broadcast.
