TWS Tops Melon Annual Chart with Debut Track

The K-pop group TWS (투어스) has made a remarkable debut by securing the top spot on the 2024 Melon Annual Chart with their title track '첫 만남은 계획대로 되지 않아' from their debut album 'Sparkling Blue'. This achievement, announced on January 9, 2025, marks the first time a debut song has reached the number one position since Miss A's 'Bad Girl Good Girl' in 2010, and the first time a boy group has topped the chart since iKON's '사랑을 했다 (LOVE SCENARIO)' in 2018.

TWS, consisting of members 신유, 도훈, 영재, 한진, 지훈, and 경민, has captivated audiences with their unique genre known as 'Boyhood Pop', which evokes beautiful sentiments from everyday life. Their debut track has not only topped the Circle Chart's digital and streaming categories for the first half of 2024 but continues to maintain a strong presence on various charts nearly a year after its release.

The song's infectious nature has also led to significant popularity on social media platforms. It ranked sixth in TikTok's year-end 'Top Songs' for South Korea and achieved fourth and sixth places in YouTube's 'Top Shorts' and 'Top Songs' categories, respectively. TWS stands out as the only K-pop boy group in the upper echelons of these charts.

Additionally, '첫 만남은 계획대로 되지 않아' has been recognized as one of the 'Best K-Pop Songs of 2024' by Billboard and NME. Thanks to their impressive performances, TWS has collected a total of 13 trophies at major music award ceremonies, earning the title of the most awarded debut artist of 2024.

In the album sector, TWS has also made waves by achieving three consecutive 'Half-Million Seller' titles with their releases last year. Following their successful 2024, the group is set to hold their first solo fan meetings, '2025 TWS 1ST FANMEETING <42:CLUB>', in Seoul and Tokyo in February and March, respectively, continuing their active presence in the new year.
