tvN's 'Someday, a Wise Resident Life' Promises Heartwarming Growth Amidst Real-World Challenges

tvN's weekend drama 'Someday, a Wise Resident Life' (언젠가는 슬기로울 전공의생활) aims to capture viewers' hearts with its warm coming-of-age narrative, despite concerns over real-world issues like medical shortages and a lack of residents.

On April 15, a director's talk for the series was held in Myeongdong, Seoul, featuring creator Shin Won-ho and director Lee Min-soo.

The drama follows the tumultuous journey of first-year obstetrics and gynecology residents at Jongno Yulje Hospital, including characters Oh Yi-young (고윤정), Pyo Nam-kyung (신시아), Eom Jae-il (강유석), and Kim Sa-bi (한예지).

During the event, director Lee Min-soo emphasized that the focus of the drama is less on the profession of a resident and more on the chemistry and friendship among the young characters. He described it as a warm story with the charm of a 'good drama,' filled with small yet touching moments.

Shin Won-ho shared his inspiration from previous series 'Hospital Playlist,' recalling how he was moved by the growth of residents depicted in some episodes. He noted that in today's fast-paced world, few are willing to wait for slow growth, making this narrative even more precious. He hopes to convey that emotional resonance to the audience.

'Someday, a Wise Resident Life' airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 PM, showcasing the friendships and growth of first-year residents in obstetrics and gynecology.
