TV Chosun to Air 'Our Neighborhood Health King' Featuring Lee Sang-woon

TV Chosun will broadcast 'Our Neighborhood Health King' (우리동네 건강왕) today at 7 PM, featuring veteran comedian Lee Sang-woon (이상운). Lee made his debut as a comedian in 1983 through MBC's third public recruitment. He gained fame in the 1980s and 1990s with popular variety shows such as 'Laugh and Good Fortune Comes' (웃으면 복이 와요) and 'Show Video Jockey' (쇼 비디오자키). His character 'Sergeant Catfish' (메기병장) from the 'Freeze' (동작 그만) segment left a lasting impression on the nation. However, Lee has faced personal challenges, having been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, along with the discovery of 12 polyps. This diagnosis led to complications affecting his intestinal health.

In response, Lee completely transformed his diet and lifestyle. He now cultivates a vegetable garden at his second home located on a mountainside, preparing healthy meals himself. Spending the day in the garden serves as a natural form of aerobic exercise, enhancing blood circulation and facilitating the elimination of waste from the intestines. After a day of gardening, he enjoys a special snack of kongguksu (콩국수) and naengi bibimbap (냉이 비빔밥). Kongguksu, made from rich plant-based protein, helps increase beneficial gut bacteria and boost immunity. The fragrant naengi, or shepherd's purse, abundant in antioxidants, aids in detoxifying the intestines during the spring season.
